The Clecanians Series Book 1
I can’t believe how quickly I devoured this book. There are so many interesting details that make this book enjoyable. The author does a great job of world-building, and it sucked me in.
Jade is kidnapped by aliens and dumped on an alien planet. The advanced race of human-like (well, they are all gorgeous, tall, and fit) aliens, must stick to some intergalactic law about non-interference with primitive species and say she has to stay and marry one of their own.
The Clecanians face a serious threat to their survival as a species, and men far outnumber the women. So, the women get to choose a husband for three months, procreate, then move on to another husband, while the men raise the kids. Men are schooled in how to be good husbands and please their wives, and if they don’t, they get in serious trouble. Sounds like every woman’s dream. Of course, it’s not that simple.
Anyway, Jade agrees to play along with the intention of trying to get back to Earth at some point. She chooses a husband who is deemed unsuitable by Clecanian females because he is scarred and considered imperfect.
Because Jade chose him, Theo (a mercenary with many secrets) thinks she’s a spy and intends to get Jade to blow her cover. Of course, neither of their plans pan out, because they fall in love and uncover a nefarious plot in the process.
This was a really fun read because it combined so many elements: sci-fi, humour, relatable and emotionally wounded characters, a dash of mystery, swoony romance, and some deliciously steamy scenes. The author’s writing style was easy to read, too. It flowed well without any jarring phrasing and disjointed syntax. As a result, I could not put this book down.

Thanks for this review! You made me curious so I bought the book and finished it in record time! 😀
I loved the descriptions of Jades journey in the space ship. Instead of being simply frightened or insanely brave, she had better days and worse. And after her arrival you could see her adjust to her new surroundings step by step. It made the story so real.
And I loved the way the autor build Theo. You could feel his inner struggles, the fight between his mind and instincts in regard to Jade.
Lovely book!
Have you read the following books too?
Hi!
I’m so glad you enjoyed my review and enjoyed the book.
I’ve just fininshed reading Freeing Luka. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much because the plot sagged a bit in the first half.
However, the characters were well rounded and the descriptions were good, so it was still a good read.
