Harris Brothers Book 2
The story opens with Tanner Harris, local football legend, starkers (naked) on the front doorstep of his latest paramour after she chucks him out for calling her by her sister’s name, oh, and asking if she wants a threesome. Immediately, I could tell it was going to be good.
Dr Belle Ryan is a neonatal surgeon who Tanner turned down and treated as off-limits once his brother started dating her best friend. Belle took it as an outright rejection, so she’s not happy with him. Belle describes Tanner as:
“a knobhead spunk bubble who runs around like a dog with two dicks.” Lol! I can already feel the tension is going to be sky high.
Thankfully, the high tension continued throughout. I really enjoyed the the relationship between these pair. The constant back and forth kept the pages turning. One minute they’re arguing, the next they’re engaging in tonsil hockey and much more.
However, there was a lot more to their relationship and boy, the reader is dragged along for the rollercoaster ride of this book. They both struggle with commitment and we get to see Belle and Tanner change as they recognise their feelings for each other morph and grow.
But as in Book 1, it’s the heroine rather then the hero who finds it hard to take that big leap and really put their happiness in someone else’s hands. Like Indie in book 1, Belle was raised as part of a controlling, rather than loving, family and she doesn’t think she has what it takes to be part of a family like the Harris’s, who are involved in each other’s business and support each other no matter what.
This was a really enjoyable read with multi-dimensional characters who have you routing for them from page one. The humour is great, the secondary characters are equally fleshed out and interesting, and the heat levels are super steamy.
