Bianca’s Book Review: “Ice Planet Barbarians” by Ruby Dixon

Ice Planet Barbarians Book 1

Trigger warnings:
– Abduction
– Imprisonment
– Rape (secondary character)

Who would have thought a romance featuring blue aliens would be so compelling? I gave this a try because it was highly recommended in an FB group and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I need something light and easy, and this book hit the spot.

My first thought was the writing style was going to be difficult to follow because itโ€™s very informal with lots of short, choppy sentences. However, it didnโ€™t matter because I found the story so much fun. I mean, what would you do if you were abducted by aliens?

Georgie wakes up and finds herself imprisoned on an alien spaceship with human females her age, but sheโ€™s unwilling to accept her fate. Sheโ€™s a fighter and far from the screaming โ€œitโ€™s hopelessโ€ victim. Things get worse when the humans are dumped on a frozen planet. Again, Georgie proves sheโ€™s not some โ€œletโ€™s wait for a rescueโ€ type, and I couldnโ€™t help but get behind her.

This book is a piece of pure escapism. Just turn off your brain and allow yourself to be taken away by this easy read. The plot is fantastical, but it drew me in. Youโ€™ll also enjoy it if you like mate tropes plus plenty of hot and heavy sex with large aliens who are built to please their females – not just sexually, they love, cherish, and see to their mate’s every need.

I want to read more, but I might save it for when I hit a reading rut and need something fun to get me going again.
