Yes, yes, I know I haven’t been using my blog as I should. In fact, it’s been woefully neglected for a very long time.
Now’s the time to give it some TLC, and I hope I haven’t lost two many followers over the last nine months.
So where have I been? I’m sure it’s the same for many, the corona virus pandemic has made a serious dent in my writing work. I have to say that so far I have been very lucky on the health aspect because no one I know has been lost to the virus. We think a couple of us, and some extended members of our family had it back in March, but I can’t confirm it because they weren’t testing everyone in the U.K. then.
When the first lockdown started in the U.K. in March, my place of work closed. I was trying to work from home, plus home school the kids. My writing took a serious nose dive, but I tried to keep up with the 5 am writers club and post book reviews here.
However, when September hit and I had to go back into work my stress levels skyrocketed. Other than 2 hours of daily writing or editing everything else stopped.
So, what can I do to improve this woeful state of my blog and try to win back some traffic? I really wish I knew. I hope to get back to posting regular book reviews. I’ve managed to tally up a few as reading is the only activity where I’ve exceeded my target. Check out my good reads profile below.
I also to want to get back to writing up more history articles. I really enjoyed doing those but they were so time consuming with the research, writing up the article, finding suitable pictures in the public domain, writing and linking up the sources (yes, a bit anal, but a hangover from my days as a history student). I thought about perhaps posting just five facts about a topic, you know, keeping it manageable.
I’ve been doing a fair bit of research after my mother-in-law bought me some excellent books so I have plenty to post about.
Let me know if there’s anything you would like to see on this blog. I appreciate all feedback. I’ll be posting again soon with a look back at my 2020 goals and what I managed to achieve, or didn’t, last year.
