After Series Book 3
Possible triggers:
- Mention of rape,
- On page sexual assault,
- Drug use (with intention to rape).
Why the hell am I continuing to read on about two characters who I can’t stand to see pushing and pulling at one another in this third instalment?
I paid my hard earned cash to buy the entire series so I’m going read it, that’s why. And I seem to be unable to put the books aside and forget about the repeating car crash that is Tessa and Hardin.
So, shock horror, they have broken up again and she’s determined to stick to her guns this time. Yes I’m sure you are, Tessa. Hardin claims he’s giving her space and does so by visiting her every weekend, and speaking on the phone several times a day, because she now lives in another city. Tessa jumps into bed with Hardin at every opportunity because they supposedly need each other. He’s apparently changed and she forgives him etc. etc.
Again, the plot drags on with the same old themes: jealous outbursts, massive alcohol binges (from both of them), plus self-destructive and violent behaviour. A couple of interesting characters turn up, re-stimulating the reader’s interest, but then they vanish. Plus, Tessa continues to believe it’s okay to lead guys on when she’s really not interested in them, and jumps when Hardin says so.
If that’s not enough to make the reader throw the book against the wall, towards the end we discover the supposed adults we liked and trusted are just as messed up as the twenty somethings. It ends on a really good cliff hanger if I’m honest. I will, of course, have to read the last book as I’m just in too deep at this point.
You may enjoy this book if you like:
- Forgiving heroines,
- Self-destructive bad boys,
- The continued angst of break up and make up relationships.
