Lady Brooke Whitworth is forced to marry Lord Dominic Wolfe by order of the Prince Regent. The Prince orders the marriage to end a family feud, or both families will forfeit their lands and titles. Okay, straight away this plot premise rings alarms bells in my mind. Would the Prince Regent really care enough to interfere? Could the Prince even take away their titles for anything other than treason? The answer to both questions is no.
This is my first book by this author. I decided to read it following a number of recommendations from a reading club.
Despite good reviews from others, I struggled through the first eight chapters. There was too much warbling back story and a lot of it was about secondary characters. This did nothing to move the plot forward, plus there was a lot of unnecessary repetition. It was very slow and boring but I tried to persevere and hoped it would improve.
Unfortunately, I was unable to finish the book. Since I started writing I no longer have enough reading time to waste finishing books that don’t grip me within the first few chapters. I’m sorry, but I had to move on.
