Book Two in The Ravenels Series
Book Two continues the sub-plot form the first novel of Helen Ravenel and her fiancé Rhys Winterborne.
Helen is the quiet and docile eldest Ravenel sister who entered into an engagement with the self-made millionaire and department store owner.
At the end of book one Helen’s family break off the engagement but Helen is determined to marry Rhys.
The characters in this novel are so loveable it is hard to put down. The Ravenels are are family who will do anything to help and support each other. Rhys Winterborne is a welcome addition to the series with his Welsh endearments (and occasional profanities) and determination to win the woman he loves. I know this is only the I second book in the series, but I already think it may be my favourite. There is something about the ruthless Rhys Winterborne in all his Welsh gorgeousness that made me just melt inside.
On a more serious note, Lisa Kleypas also demonstrates the fine balance between historical details and story telling that helps immerse the readers in the period and the characters.
