After Series Book 2

So, I’m back on the rollercoaster that is Hardin and Tessa. I never thought it was possible, but here are two characters I grow to dislike more and more as I read, yet I can’t seem to stop. Here’s a quick plot summary: they get together, hurt each other, brake up, claim they can’t live without each other, make up, then repeat, over and over again.
Tessa is a total doormat regarding Hardin. She really does believes that (read with annoyingly delusional and whiny voice): he can change, she’s the only one who can save him, he needs her etc. After the way he treated her in the first book, the innocent and inexperienced aspect to her character that I allowed for then, no longer washed with me. She’s also developed an annoying tendency to lead other guys on. She lets them into her life, knowing they have feelings for her, yet she always runs back to Hardin.
Then there’s Hardin. God, he takes self-destructive to the limit. Apparently, everyone else is to blame for his problematic behaviour. He pushes her away, yet he’s so arrogant he knows she’ll always forgive him and come back. All he has to do is apologise, say he’s going to change, give her an orgasm, and they’re back to square one.
When is this destructive cycle going to end? Not soon enough because there are another two books to go. I know I’m being hypocritical, but I am going to read them. I realise I love to hate this pair, but I’m in, and I’m in for the long haul.
There’s more niggling inconsistencies like in the first, but the pace really flags in places. This book was released in short chapters on Wattpad, which is okay for that platform (there’s 123 chapters!). As a published book, I think it should have been reformatted to make it flow better in full length novel format. There’s so many scenes that could be cut as they just repeat the same arguments and make up chats over, and over again. Despite that, I soldiered on because I seem to have been sucked into the never ending cycle of angst that is Tessa and Hardin, and I cannot escape.
Again, you may enjoy this if you like:
- Heroines who continually forgive because their man needs them,
- Possessive boyfriends with mental health problems, who claim they want to change, but don’t,
- A rollercoaster of break ups and make ups.
