Book 3 in The Ravenels Series
I was looking forward to this book because Pandora has, so far, been my favourite of all the Ravenels. When I discovered the hero was the son of Sebastian and Evie from Devil in Winter in the Wallflower series I could not wait to get started.
Lady Pandora Ravenel is caught in a compromising situation with one of London’s notorious rakes, Gabriel, Lord st Vincent. Gabriel reluctantly accepts he is honour bound to marry Panadora but marriage is the last thing on Pandora’s mind.
This is another novel that demonstrates the power of familial love and support and not just from the Ravenels this time, but Gabriel’s family too. It was lovely to see some of the characters from the Wallflowers series and they did not fail to please. Sebastian is equally charming and loveable as an “old” family man as he was as a rake in his younger days.
Pandora is such a likeable character who struggles with the expectations of society. She wishes to decide her own future and seeks independence rather than reliance on a man who will be able to control her life. Kleypas demonstrates a knack for historical detail which brings a great deal of authenticity to the whole series a whole.
There is a sub plot that drags on a little too long at the end and is a little anti climactic but I suspect it’s purpose is to set up the story for the next book in the series. I was disappointed to discover it is not Cassandra’s story, but I am still looking forward to reading more on the Ravenels.
