This is book two in The Debutantes Series
“Her heart raced as she eyed Max’s mussed appearance. His too long hair was in disarray, his face flushed. A trickle of blood marred the corner of his lip. He looked savage and her heart gave a treacherous little flip.”
Lady Aurelia has been in love with with her brother’s best friend Max, Viscount Camden since they were children. Unfortunately he has hated her since she unwittingly embarrassed him and they spend most of their time sniping at each other.
As a feisty and opinionated female, Aurelia has been overlooked by many gentlemen. Faced with a future as a spinster in the wilds of Scotland, Aurelia decides to try to find any husband who will have her. She also longs for excitement and passion so she visits the Sodom Club to see if she can find it their before she marries.
Max is tired of Aurelia’s reckless behaviour and when he finds her at Sodom their argument leads to a kiss that awakens his true feelings for her.
I prefer the characters of Max and Aurelia than those of Declan and Rosalie in the first novel. Aurelia is much more interesting with her fiery wit and amusing cartoon sketches. I loved the tension between her and Max, it kept the story alive and fed the passion that explodes between them. There is a particularly amusing scene in the park but I won’t spoil it.
Again, the reading was sometimes disrupted by the authors use of short sentences but overall it was very enjoyable.
